Registered Master Builders 2008 House of the Year: GOLD Award

A complete interior and exterior makeover won this project a Gold award in the Registered Master Builders 2008 House of the Year competition

This is a 1970’s concrete masonry apartment. The scope of work included removing 80% of the existing load bearing internal masonry walls to create an open plan apartment. The main challenge with the project was completing the structural work which included propping existing floors above to allow for installation of steel beams and portals. Other works included new landscaping and retaining walls with concrete steps to the beach with new rock perimeter garden walls.

The end result is a modern contemporary space with a high level of finish. The structural and leaky issues that were part of the older building have been resolved, this is home that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
